The Most Important Thing!Yoga IS for Every Body. You CAN do it. A yoga class is one of the least judgmental environments you are likely to experience. Ability and appearance are not primary concerns. The focus is internal. Yoga practitioners do not take time to compare clothing, competency level, or body type. Success is measured only by how you feel about your effort. An out-of-shape beginner will benefit from yoga as much (if not more) than a well-toned expert. Everyone works at their own level. At Takibi Yoga your first class experience will tell you all you need to know about yoga. Come in. Try a class. We practice yoga to make or bodies strong, flexible, healthy, and victorious. The purpose of yoga is join mind, body and spirit in greater happiness. Health is an internal quest. Judgment has no place in one of our classes. Plant the seed of faith in our yoga practice and carefully see to its growth. It will produce fruit. Even though we must keep in mind that we cannot plant a seed today and expect fruit tomorrow, results will appear faster than you might think. Practice is the key to yoga. During practice seek your own limits and approach them with respect. Find the effort level that pushes these limits slightly. If we just practice without seeking our limits we cannot grow. Real benefits from yoga practice can be inconspicuous. Just as plant growth is imperceptible to the human eye, yoga practice produces small victories which transform. Keep in mind that patience is in and of itself a true challenge, and that it often holds the key to breaking through an apparent impasse. You are the perfect candidate for yoga exercise.
What to Expect Your introduction to Takibi Yoga will be pleasant and physically stimulating. There is no confusion, embarrassment, or pressure to achieve any arbitrary proficiency level. Please arrive a few minutes early. 15 minutes is suggested. On your first visit you will probably spend a few seconds in our parking lot determining which door to enter (it is the southern-facing glass door near San Pablo Avenue). Directly inside the door is an elevator. If you don't imediately see an elevator you entered the wrong door. Take the elveator to the second floor. As you exit the elevator we are directly in front of you. Cross the hallway and come in! If no class is in session I will likely great you just inside the door. If I am engaged elsewhere, you will find on the desk a few class registration forms that you use to sign in for the class. Classes last one hour. Our exercise room is large, well lighted and has two full walls of windows. It is elevated one floor above street level so that class participants have no feeling of being watched on display to the neighborhood. At the same time, we enjoy a view that is expanded by our upstairs location. The room is quite warm, with plenty of air circulation. The internal heat you produce during exercise works in harmony with the external heat of the room to relax and lengthen muscles and other body tissues. Heat helps prevent injury. It increases the body's ability to rid itself of toxins. Ambient heat increases blood flow and enhances breathing. Sweat is a great equalizer. Fashion means very little when sweat is running down your face and soaking your clothing. You leave the class with a healthy glow produced naturally through enhanced vital body functions. Showers are available for your convenience and comfort. A (very limited) selection of soaps and shampoos are provided. For your first visit please allow us to provide a free exercise mat, hand towel and bath towel for your use. Thank you! We hope to see you again soon. Ron White |
