FAQ

Can I begin yoga practice if I am stiff, big boned, plump, out-of-shape, feeling aged challenged or self-conscious?

Yes, yoga practice is a process, that brings change, you begin wherever you are.

What does yoga have to offer me?

Yoga increases useable strength and flexibility; regular practice develops concentration and relieves stress. In addition regular practice can affect many other positive changes, including: skeletal alignment, optimize body systems function; limit or relieve the effects of injury or some chronic conditions; modify behaviors such as eating. It has been said that, “Yoga gives you what you need.”

Will yoga help me lose weight?

Some types of yoga practice can produce impressive body fat loss.

Can yoga give me a cardio workout?

Yes, the cardio aspect of some postures is quite effective.

What if I cannot do the postures?

You attempt to do the postures in proper alignment, while breathing mindfully. Skill is not a necessity. It is the process that brings results.

What do I wear?

Wear comfortable, non bulky clothing; clothing that allows movement. Thin is better, less coverage even more so.

What do I bring?

You can bring mat, bath towel, wash cloth, and drinking water if you would like. These items can, also, be rented or purchased.

How often should I practice yoga?

It is best to be consistent. Two or three times a week is a good place to begin. If you have more time that is even better. Yoga practice encourages positive change. More practice, faster change; more consistency, less resistance
